Meet Mr. Bill

Hi, I'm William Merrick, but please call me Mr. Bill.

I'm 81 years old and have been fortunate to experience a wide variety of careers and adventures throughout my life. I was raised by two loving parents who taught me to respect the outdoors and appreciate everything it had to offer. As a young boy, I developed a lifelong love of fishing and spending time in nature—values that have remained with me throughout my life.

Those early lessons shaped the way I look at life and instilled in me an appreciation for nature, hard work, and the simple joys that often become our most treasured memories.

Later, I proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969, followed my passion for aviation as a corporate pilot and flight instructor, and eventually spent more than twenty years as a professional truck driver before retiring. Along the way, I also became a lifelong gardener and, more recently, an enthusiastic explorer of artificial intelligence and the many ways it can help people preserve memories and enrich their lives.

Like many people my age, I have old family photographs that mean far more to me today than they did when they were first taken. Some have faded with time, some are blurry, and others have scratches, stains, or damage from years of handling and storage.

Discovering what modern AI can do to restore and enhance these treasured images has become one of my greatest passions. Watching a faded memory come back to life is something I never get tired of, and I truly enjoy helping others preserve their own family history.

That passion inspired me to create Golden Gen News.

My goal is simple: to provide a welcoming place where seniors can find useful information, enjoy a little humor, learn about technology in plain English, and discover practical ways to enrich everyday life.
